Smile

I think that I will grin
Then-minus sin
Let it begin
Going for the win
/when?

When I feel the wind/
Breath to expend/
Heart full worth more than
money to spend/

Never an end/
Extra smile to lend/
Would you like one my
friend?

Harlem Renaissance… Revolving… Revisiting… Re-generation

Daniel Carlton joined Shadenia Davis and Brad Walrond for an intergenerational evening of poetry presented in connection with the Wallach Art Gallery's Uptown Triennial 2020 exhibition at Columbia University.

The poets shared verse from different eras of Harlem's cultural history alongside new work, responding to the exhibition through lived experience and a dialogue between past and present.
